Composer Instructions

Using the Arranger

The program itself is quite straightforward to use: you simply enter in the rows to include in the composition. Select the Make Arrangement button and the calls will be arranged in order. The first row that you enter is always the first and the last in the call change sequence, so you probably want to put rounds as the first row. You can optionally give each row a name, separate the row from the name by spaces. Select the help links in the program for examples, or try the 'Examples' link on the navigation bar.

However, composing a good call change sequence can be more then just using the program. It is an iterative process, you will probably need to use the program several times. When the results are returned, your original input is kept too so that you can change it and run the program again.

As well as the order of rows, the program shows the distance (number of calls required) between each target row. You may notice a few rows that are a long way from the others. Perhaps you may wish to remove these rows from the composition? Or perhaps the arrangement is too short and you want to add some more rows. The total number of calls required is shown at the bottom of the results table.

The Matrix

One of the options at the bottom of the page is "Display Matrix". If you select this then the program will also show a large table which lists the distances between every row and every other. You can use this table to help make decisions about which rows to keep or change.
